Canadian HBA taps Hanson Brick executive for service award

TORONTO, Ontario, May 15, 2006
- The Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association recently bestowed its Award of Honour on Hanson Brick's Canadian Vice President Commercial, Frank Buck, for his commitment to forwarding the association's mission.

"Frank is a great supporter of the association and industry through his service on the GTHBA Board and Associates Council," said Stephen Dupuis, GTHBA executive vice president. "We appreciate his tireless work on behalf of our industry."

Each year, the Canadian Home Builders' Association recognizes one home builder and one non-home builder member for their service through its local HBAs. Buck received the award with Patrick O'Hanlon of Kylemore Communities at the annual Industry Luncheon in April.

Buck, who joined Hanson Brick in 1999, has more than 25 years experience in sales and marketing for the building industry.

"I have a lot of fun working with the local home builders association, and I'm grateful for the vote of confidence," Buck said.

In addition to his four years on the GTHBA board, Buck has served as the emcee for the GTHBA Home Builder Awards and facilitates Hanson Brick's marketing partnership and corporate sponsorship.

"At Hanson we stress the importance of being a partner with the people who use our products," said Charlie Ward, executive vice president, commercial for Hanson Brick. "Frank's service with his local home builders association epitomizes that ethic."

In addition to receiving awards, both winners had the opportunity to meet John Tory, the distinguished leader of the Ontario Conservative Party. Tory served as the keynote speaker.

Established in 1921, the GTHBA represents a full cross-section of the industry, consisting of home builders, developers, renovation contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, suppliers, service, professional and financial firms, and is affiliated with the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders' Associations.

Hanson purchased Canada Brick, Briqueterie St. Laurent and five American brick companies in 1999 and is North America’s largest brick manufacturer, with approximately 1,600 employees and operations across the United States and Canada. The company provides its customers with superior selection and service, offering more than 1,000 styles of brick in five regional brick collections. Hanson Brick is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Hanson Brick is part of Hanson PLC (NYSE:HAN), an international building materials company, with more than 26,000 employees and operations in 15 countries. Hanson PLC is the largest producer of aggregates, the second largest producer of pipe and the third largest producer of brick in the world.
